Haunt Shot Privacy Policy
Effective date:
Last updated:
Haunt Shot is a Halloween monster-hunting and optional augmented-reality photo app provided by Revivr Studios LLC. This policy explains how the app handles information.
Location
With your permission, Haunt Shot uses your precise location while the app is open to show nearby haunts, confirm discoveries and estimate walking distance.
Discovery detection and walking-distance tracking are processed on your device. Haunt Shot does not send your GPS readings or a route history to Revivr Studios, store a history of your GPS coordinates, or track your location in the background.
When you select a haunt for walking directions, the app sends the route’s starting location and destination to Apple Maps, as described below.
You can deny or disable location access in iPhone Settings. You can still access previously collected monsters, but new location-based discoveries require sufficiently accurate location information and Precise Location access.
Information stored on your device
Haunt Shot stores information locally to support your hunt, including:
- Your selected costume.
- Discovered monsters and their discovery dates.
- Accumulated walking distance.
- Whether you have taken a monster photo.
- Preferences such as sound, haptics, reduced effects and tap-to-summon.
- Your acknowledgment of the app’s safety notice.
- Permission-request history used to avoid repeated automatic prompts.
- The latest accepted public station list.
Achievement badges are determined from your hunt progress. The app does not upload your progress or preferences to Revivr Studios.
Deleting the app removes its local data. Offloading the app may retain that data. Depending on your Apple settings, app data may also be included in device backups. Deleting the app does not remove existing backups, images saved to Photos or copies you have shared.
Camera and face positioning
Camera access is optional. Haunt Shot may request permission during initial setup or when you open photo mode. Granting permission does not require you to take a photo.
Camera images and augmented-reality tracking information are processed on your device to position the monster.
On compatible devices, selfie mode uses face positioning to place a monster beside you. Haunt Shot does not use face-tracking information to identify you, create a face profile or infer personal characteristics. It does not save face-tracking data or transmit it to Revivr Studios or another party.
Haunt Shot does not request microphone access or record audio. Photos you choose to capture may contain faces and other details visible in the scene.
Photo challenges
Photo challenges provide optional pose suggestions. Haunt Shot does not analyze or judge your photos to determine whether you completed a challenge.
Saving and sharing images
Captured photos are held temporarily for preview. Saving a photo adds it to your Apple Photos library with your permission.
Sharing passes the image and any accompanying caption to the destination you select through Apple’s share sheet. Images exported by the app include the “Halloween Town ‘26” watermark. A completion image may also include your selected costume and accumulated walking distance.
Haunt Shot does not upload your images to a Revivr Studios server. Services you choose for sharing handle the content according to their own privacy policies. Images saved to Photos may sync to iCloud Photos if you have enabled that service.
You control saved and shared copies through Photos and the services you selected.
Apple Maps and website links
Haunt Shot uses Apple Maps to display the hunt map and calculate walking routes.
When you select a haunt for walking directions, the app sends the route’s starting location and the haunt’s destination to Apple to obtain a walking route and estimated travel time. These requests may repeat as you move or choose another destination. Walking-route calculation requires an internet connection.
Apple handles mapping and routing requests under Apple Maps & Privacy.
If you open a website link from the app, that website’s privacy practices apply to your visit. This policy describes the app; the Revivr website may have a separate privacy or cookie policy.
Station information and remote updates
Haunt Shot includes a bundled list of public haunt locations and checks for updated station information when the app launches and when you return to it. Updates can change haunt locations, availability, hints and supported presentation settings without requiring an app update.
The app downloads this public information over HTTPS from GitHub’s content-hosting service. These requests do not include your GPS readings, hunt progress, photos, selected costume or face-tracking information. You do not need a GitHub account.
GitHub receives normal connection and request information, including your IP address, and handles that information under its General Privacy Statement.
The app saves the latest accepted station list on your device. If a download fails or you are offline, it continues using that saved list or its bundled locations. Updated locations and closures cannot reach an offline device until it reconnects and successfully downloads an update.
Accounts, advertising and analytics
Haunt Shot does not require an account and does not include third-party advertising or an embedded analytics service. The app does not access advertising identifiers or track you across other apps or websites.
Revivr Studios does not sell information from the app. Apple may provide platform diagnostics according to your device settings and Apple’s policies.
The Apple Maps and GitHub requests described above are used to provide maps, walking directions and public haunt updates.
Your choices
You can manage location, Precise Location, camera and Photos permissions in iPhone Settings. The app’s Info screen provides permission information and access to Settings.
You can manage sound, haptics, reduced effects and tap-to-summon preferences in the app. Camera access, sound and vibration are optional.
You can remove locally stored app information by deleting the app. Saved photos, shared copies and existing backups must be managed separately through Photos, your sharing services and your Apple settings.
